Writing Assistant is made by Calomese Productions. This page says, in plain words, what we keep about you and why.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, the name you give, and a scrambled form of your password (we never keep the password itself, and cannot see it).
- Your writing: the documents, screenplays, boards and files you put in Writing Assistant, and earlier versions of them, so they can appear on all your devices and so nothing is lost.
- Sign-ins: which devices are signed in, so you stay signed in.
- Your settings, including any AI key you add. AI keys are stored encrypted and are only ever used for your own requests.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information, show you ads, or share your writing with anyone.
- We do not read your writing. Nobody else's account can see it.
- We do not use your writing to train AI.
The assistant
When you ask the assistant for help, the part of your writing it needs is sent to the AI company you chose in Settings (for example Anthropic or OpenAI), using your own key, and handled under that company's terms. Nothing is sent to an AI company unless you use the assistant.
Where it is kept
Your account and writing are stored with Cloudflare, which runs the servers for us. Everything travels encrypted (https). The desktop app also keeps a full copy on your own computer. Backups are kept for 14 days, and things you delete for good are kept for 30 days in case you change your mind.
Deleting your account
In the app, open your account menu and choose Delete my account. That removes your account, your writing, every version, your uploads, your settings and your backups from our servers straight away. Copies on your own computer are yours and stay where they are. The database's own safety history may hold the account's library list for up to 30 more days before it is overwritten; it is not used for anything.
